A deal has been completed for one of boxing’s biggest fight’s of the year between pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao and welterweight titleholder Miguel Cotto. Cotto (34-1, 27 KOs), a 147 pounds titleholder, has agreed to fight at a weight below the welterweight limit. Pacman, the 140-pound junior welterweight champion, wanted the contest to be fought at 143 pounds, but Cotto refused and they have compromised on a 145-pound maximum weight. Cotto has not fought at this weight for over 3 years and has struggle with his weight in his last 4 contests.

Pacquiao, 30, a hero in the Philippines, had an incredible knockout win over Britain’s Ricky Hatton in May 2009 at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas to win the junior welterweight title. The victory was Pacquiao’s record-tying sixth weight division as a world champion. Most boxing experts agreed that Pacquiao deserves the tag as the best pound-for-pound boxer on the planet.

Hailing from Puerto Rico, 28 year old Cotto, is back in the ring after his bloody & bruising split decision victory in defending his title against Joshua Clottey in June at New York’s Madison Square Garden. Hard hitting Cotto has stopped 27 of his 35 opponents and should go into the ring not fearing Pacquiao’s punches after facing and defeating big hitter’s, Zab Judah and Sugar Shane Mosley.
